The participants in SHE SAYS/Women in News range from network television news anchors and syndicated columnists to newspaper editors and a major television network station president and general manager. "These women are heroes - smart, insightful, funny, highly-professional - who have succeeded in the business while remaining real people with real lives," says Joan Konner, the first woman Dean of the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. "We have attempted to show how they've transformed and expanded the agenda of news while bringing an element of humanity to news and the newsroom environment."
